Welcome to the webpage of Department of
Physics of Government Arts and Science College, Idappadi. The Department of Physics was incepted in the year 2016 with the sanctioned
strength of 40 students. The teaching fraternity is constituted by highly qualified, experienced, vibrant and devoted individuals from
diverse platforms who constantly strive in fulfilling the mission and vision of the department. All the activities of the department are
darted in achieving eminence and excellence in teaching, learning process, and the core aim of the department is to emerge as one of the
best physics department with “Potential for Academic Excellence”. The students of the physics department are constantly encouraged to
participate in science fairs, conferences, seminars, workshops, sports etc, and to the department’s credit the students have shown remarkable
achievements in curricular and co-curricular activities. Furthermore, to stay abreast of the recent scientific developments, the faculties at
the Department of Physics publish scientific research articles in highly reputed peer reviewed national/international journals.
VISION:
* Inculcate physics among the students hailing from rural and remote areas and to promote the spirit of science education.
* To give an awareness of physics to our everyday life and also explain the role of physics application in our modern era.
* To impart conceptual framework of physics to the next generation and enhance the logical thinking of the students.
* Succor the budding and young aspirers in understanding the crux of Science and creating a wider platform to learn things practically and solve the real time problems.

MISSION:
* Nurture students to gain theoretical and experimental skills in order to excel in various fields such as teaching, research, industry etc.
* To impart sound knowledge on fundamentals of physics and providing them necessary exposure on the recent advancements in science and technology
* Moulding young men and women to build a strong foundation for academic excellence and the application of knowledge to benefit the society.
* To provide quality higher learning to students to develop themselves and become competent, and enhance their academic abilities, personal qualities, decision making skills.
